It all started because of the Intolerable Acts. People in the colonies were being mistreated. Most of their rights had been taken away, and they were being unfairly treated. Many of there charters had been taken away and British soliders were in control. They could kill someone, and be taken to trial but they would get off scott free in the Americans eyes. They couldnt hold town meetings or be in control of their colonies, British soliders were now able to stay in private homes without your permission which was called the Quatering Act. This sent many people in an uproar and the first continental congress was to meet in Philidelphia, and discuss reactions ti the Intolerable Acts. Many of the colonoist had diffrent outlooks on the situation by how they were treated in their colony. Some men wanted to break free from Great Britan, but some didnt and this broke the men into three groups. Radicals, Moderates, and Conservatives. I feel that the Radicals were the best of the three factions and they didnt seem scared to fight for what they thought was right, and there independence.
The Radicals believed that the relationship of the colonies and Great Britan had been torn apart completely. They thought there was no reconciling, and nothing could be done to change there minds. They had to either demand what they wanted from Britan and they accept it, or DECLARE THEIR INDEPENDENCE. Some of the men among the radicals were Samuel, and John Adams from Massachusetts, Patrick Henry from Virginia, and Charles Thomsen from Pennsylvania.
The moderates believed that the relationship between the colonies and Great Britan could be repaired. I think this is the weakest excuse. If they would try to make things work with Great Britan they probably would have temporarily met demands with them, but eventually pushed them over again. Among the moderates were George Washington from Virginia, and John Dickinson from Pennsylvania.
The conservatives didnt want to be the aggresor, but they did want to get them to understand where they were coming from with a little attitude. Joseph Galloway proposed theGalloway plan to make things the way they were before 1763 and when everything went hay-wire. This plan wouldnt work because a colonial GRAND COUNCIL would have power to veto British acts.
Radicals were able to be in contorl because they had the best solution. They didnt want to make things right with the British they had gavethem many chances, and they felt this was the last straw. The more they got prepared the more they learneed how they were being mistreated. They felt parliment had no right to tax them. They thought that they had the power to make up their own rules instead of following Britains rules. They convinced everyone to follow them and when they went home they would follow their own rules they made up. Which were the folloing: the Intolerable Acts were dissmissed, they were to arm them selves and militias were to be formed, and a boycott of British imports.
The radicals were convinved, and didnt giveup until they convinced everyone they were right. By the time of the Second Continental Congress everyone was convinced there was no reconciling and that they were to come together and fight for there independence, and so it was time for war.

The Role of Religion
What role does religion play in your life? Religion was one of the most important motives of colonization in colonies like Plymouth, Maryland, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
In Maryland religion was a huge role to the colonist. Although the main role was for profit, Maryland was a place where Catholics could go, and would not have to be in England. By 1649 Maryland had become a haven for Catholics.
The role of religion in Massachusetts was also important. The Puritans believed in something called theocracy. This meant they thought church and state were one. They saw no difference between government and religon and thought thats how the church should be ran. Eventually many of the people started to rebell because they didnt believe in this theocracy. Roger Williams didnt believe that church and state should be one and this was one of his motives for founding Rhode Island. He believed in seperation of church and state, and freedom of religion. This became a place were they could be free to practice there own religion and have seperate government.
William Penn founded also had religious motives for founding Pennsylvania. He got the land as a grant for something owed to his decease father. After Penn got the land he wanted it to be a place where it could also be freedom of religion to save his fellow Quakers. The Quakers were being mistreated just because they had diffrent religious views. Pennsylvania soon became a place where all citizens could worship there religions freely.

Colonies In The New World
Many settlers came to the new world looking for new land to settle, and new ways to establish new government. There are ten in particular I want to talk about Virginia, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth, Maryland, Conneticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
Virginia was founded by the virginia company in the year of 1607. Which was lead by John Smith. There motives for settling here was for the economy. They wanted to gain wealth, and convert the natives to christianity.By 1775 virginia was a colony. Massachusetts Bay was founded by the Puritans in 1630. John Winthrop lead the group to settle here for religious reasons. Now Plymouth was founded by the separatists, or Pilgrims. The leader was William Bedford. He also had religious reasons for settling here.Eventually Plymouth was absorbed by Massuchusetts in 1775. Now Maryland was founded by Lord Baltimore for religious reasons, and he was also motivated by money.In 1775 MAryland was a colony.
Conneticut was founded by Thomas Hooker in 1636. Hooker and many other followers were looking for freedom, and looking for new ways to make money. They had moved from Massachusetts and founded Conneticut. Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1636 and was founded for religious reasons. He didnt belive in freedom of religion, and the seperation of church and state, which made him an outkast. Delaware was founded by Peter Minuit in 1638.He wanted this land because his brother the Duke of York had been given new netherland. Delaware was apart of Pennsylvania until 1703.
New York was founded by the Duke of York in 1664. This is when the Duke gained control of the land. James changed the name in honor of the Duke. Now Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1682. This land was given to him as compensation for his deceased father. He also had religious reasons for this colony. He wanted to have freedom of religion so none of the quakers had to be killed because of there religion. Last but not least Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe in 1732. This colony was founded because it was used from keeping the Spanish from spreading from Florida, and also it was used as a place where debtors could go and start a whole new life.
Many of the colonies had diffrent motivations or reasons for starting anew. They all had diffrent religious belifs or financial motivations that made the colnies what they became.

My Summer
This summer had to be one of the best summers Ive ever had. I got to do alot of things that I wanted to do.First was the end of school. I was so happy getting my report card and leaving the school because I knew that I would be doing alot this summer. The next couple a weeks I stayed up all night and slept during the day. I met new friends around my house and we started to hang out also.
Next was my birthday which was July 1st. I had so much fun, all my friends came over and we ate my cookie cake, then went to the movies, I had to say it was really fun. Then my cousins came up from california and we spent alot of time together until they left. We met new friends around my auntie's house and had a party. It was awesome because everyone from the neighborhood came.
Then I knew the end of the summer was coming when we got ready to go to our annual family reunion. It was August 31- Sep 1. It was fun getting to see all my family and hanging out with my cousins. We went to a house party and it was so hot but I still was dancing and having a good time with everyone who went. I went home knowing that I had a good summer, and school was starting the next day and I would be starting my last year at Kenwood so I would make it my best.
My summer was exciting and fun, now school is here and I think Im going to have the best year ever.
